 | 11:45 am - LJ going down? As some of you already know, SUP/Fabrik, the owner of LiveJournal, has laid of a significant number of their American-based workers.
People are panicking that LiveJournal will fold soon. With that in mind, it might be a good time to let your friends know about CommieJournal. At the very least, they can back their journals up to an account here using LJ Sec.
We aren't going anywhere!

http://www.witchvox.com/wren/wn_detail.html?id=20303 Let’s ring in the New Year with some good news about our country: Despite bitter culture wars, outbreaks of nativism, and pockets of intolerance, the United States begins 2009 as the boldest and most successful experiment in living with religious differences the world has ever known.
This is no small achievement in a world torn by religious hatred and sectarian violence. Christian vs. Muslim in

So she began to paint.
That night, near the door to his apartment, she wrote, "Heart of my heart, love will never die." The next morning, over the bloodstain in fro

http://www.dailykitten.com/archives/2541-scooter-skittles-and-snickers.html http://www.dailykitten.com/?p=2541 Location: Phoenix, Oregon, USA

These three charmers, a handful to be sure, were brought into the Jackson Co. Animal Shelter, along with their beautiful calico mother. Scooter and Skittles were adopted to good homes, and so was the mom, Roxy. Snickers currently has a job socializing a timid kitten in a foster home. He is a good worker, and the timid kitten is coming around! When Snickers’ job is done, he and the kitten will be brought back to the Shelter to be adopted. These were some of the cutest, funniest kittens at the Shelter, bouncing around and playing and chasing and having a great time. We really enjoyed having them, but are, of course, even happier that they are getting furever homes!

Button is the sweetest, most loving cat. Nothing ever gets in the way of his playful happy attitude and he purrs his way through every situation, even visits to the vet. He’s a playful one too, and quite aerodynamic, able to leap off high surfaces with no notice & always eager for an impromptu snuggle.

This is my kitten Leo, only a couple of days after he moved in with me. You can’t actually see it here, but he was quite skeletal (he weighed only 10 ounces!) and very sick. I nursed him back to health and in spite of everything he had to go through, he always remained incredibly friendly, cuddly and playful. He hasn’t hurt me once in his life. Now, he totally cracks me up every day. He just has very particular ways of doing things…

They brought them back to Gainesville, and we fostered them for a few days. We weren’t sure what to do because they were so small, but luckily one of our friends is studying to be a vet. We bottle fed them and had them sleep on a heating pad. Now they live in Orlando, FL and are very happy and healthy!

This is Cloudy Boy. My husband and I adopted him the the humane society in Tampa, Florida. My husband was not a huge fan of cats and told me before we got married that we would never ever ever get a cat. Ever! So, one day after work he had me jump in his car because he said he had a surprise for me. He drove me to the humane society and I got so excited because I thought we were going to adopt a little puppy, because a few days earlier we had gone to a pet store to look at puppies. We walked up to the counter and the lady asked us if we were there for puppies or kittens, and my husband said, ” a little kitty!” I was so ecstatic - Cloudy Boy was the first kitty I saw and I knew he was mine! Cloudy Boy loves to play with his little toy mice and loves blueberry muffins.
Merry Christmas from The Daily Kitten.
